Hello, I'm Katrina.
My Story
I’m 51 years old and navigating perimenopause.
I found Ashtanga yoga at a local studio about a year after my first daughter was born. At that time, I was dealing with postpartum depression and fatigue, compounded by deep-seated anger issues. Recognizing that I needed help, I’m incredibly grateful for my supportive partner and the valuable guidance I received through intensive psychotherapy, which also introduced me to yoga.
Staying consistent can be a challenge for me, but I strive for steadiness in everything I do. Over the years, through training, instruction, research, and practice, I’ve cultivated a strong sense of physiological awareness. I now recognize when I stray from my path and, importantly, I allow myself the grace to be human—because that, too, is a form of strength.
My goal is to learn as much as possible to embrace aging gracefully. I focus on developing my physical abilities as a ‘well-rounded generalist,’ aiming for reliable mobility, balance, and strength through activities like walking, jumping, and lifting heavy objects—all of which contribute to my definition of strength.
I have privately studied and practiced yoga for over 17 years, completed my yoga teacher training and certification in 2017, and have been teaching for 7 years.
For the past 9 years, I’ve been training with kettlebells. I earned my first certification in 2020 and have been teaching and refining my skills since then.
In 2022, I completed my ‘Personal Training Specialist’ certification, allowing me to integrate my training and experience under a credible framework. I love collaborating with clients to create personalized, periodized training sessions that enhance their physiological endurance. I also accommodate small groups!
Driven by a genuine curiosity and a desire to continually expand my knowledge, I’ve built a comprehensive library of reference materials that I regularly consult.
I renew my Red Cross First Aid certification annually and am insured through Arthur J. Gallagher Insurance.
